Gardens By The Bay Celebrates Its 10th With A Cherry Blossom-Themed Flower Dome Ft. Tokidoki Characters

Free entry for orange and blue CHAS cardholders!
By: Ria Mirano / March 9, 2022

To commemorate its 10th anniversary, Gardens By The Bay is granting free entry to the Sakura-themed (Cherry Blossom) floral dome featuring Tokidoki characters. Now until March 11, lower-income Singaporeans are given a complimentary entry to the floral display during its opening week.

The offer is open to those with orange and blue CHAS cardholders, which they will present at the Friends of the Garden centre to redeem one ticket. Slots are subject to availability per day.

“Our Sakura floral display has a special place in the hearts of many Singaporeans. By providing free entry to the most popular show on our calendar to orange and blue CHAS cardholders, we hope that more Singaporeans, including those who have less financially, can come and enjoy these beautiful flowers.”, said Felix Loh, CEO of Gardens by the Bay

Iconic Sakura Floral Display featuring Tokidoki Characters

During the exhibition, visitors can enjoy and walk through the iconic cherry blossom displays that return for their 7th consecutive year, ever since it began back in 2016. Despite the supply chain disruptions and higher costs that occurred during the pandemic, the iconic Sakura display continued.

Accompanying the beautiful cherry blossoms are the tokidoki five magical Unicornos, namely: Fubuki, Ichiyo, Haru & Harumi, Yoshino and Sakurako, who join characters SANDy and Donutella.

They are scattered throughout the landscape on torii gates, hanami settings, carp settings, Japanese floral art by Ikebana International Singapore, and a display of Japanese carp streamers known as koinobori on loan from the Japanese Association, Singapore. The ephemeral beauty of the Sakura can also be seen through the traditional round Japanese windows. The floral display will run until April 3.

The Gardens continue to become a place where special moments, and experiences are held.

Gardens by the Bay also invites the people to share their fondest memories during their stay at the Gardens. These can be submitted in different ways such as photos, artworks, poems, and even reflections. These shared memories will be showcased in a public exhibition at the end of the year, and in Gardens by the Bay’s upcoming celebratory coffee table book.

Members can submit their entries until April 3 here.

A Decade of Being a People’s Garden

Since its opening in 2012, Gardens by The Bay has continued to work hard to be a People’s Garden. It continues to bring wonder to the community, now with over 60 floral displays up until today. This year, visitors can look forward to new and fresh floral displays such as peonies and hydrangeas.

Aside from the floral showcases, it has become a centre of celebration for different kinds of events like the Mid-Autumn Festival and Children’s Festival. People continue to visit the place to bond with one another amidst the garden of flowers. It was reported that over 8.3 million people have visited the place as a place of sanctuary and seek respite from the pandemic.
