If you have a love for anything Louis Vuitton, you will most definitely not have missed out on the LV Spring/Summer 2021 Collection Showcase in Singapore! Ever since the pandemic, fashion shows have been a big no-no. Especially in 2020. Back then, fashion houses resorted to virtual showcases like Dior, or even mini fashion shows like Moschino! But, if you were not able to catch a glimpse of the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2021 Collection that went down earlier this year, hear all about the Glitz and glam that went down right here. Here’s your juicy inside scoop on everything that happened during Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2021 show in Singapore.

Louis Vuitton

Now, we all know Louis Vuitton is a well-known luxury brand that many of us try to get our hands on. Furthermore, we also like to refer to the brand in its shortened abbreviation, LV. This French Fashion House and luxury brand was founded in 1854 by none other than, Louis Vuitton. Best known for its monogram pattern that decorates most of its products ranging from bags, clothing, watches and jewellery. As one of the world’s leading luxury fashion houses, it has over 460 stores worldwide in 50 countries.

Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2021

Most fashion houses in 202 adapted to virtual showcases or short films. But slowly, we got back on our feet. This year, Louis Vuitton decided to stage one of its events in Singapore! Even though it was one of many firsts, this show was the first physical spin-off fashion show to be held in Southeast Asia! Although Louis Vuitton had previously staged shows in Tokyo and Shanghai, Singapore is definitely a first and a pleasant surprise! This definitely is a great way to promote the LV brand in Singapore.

The Spring/Summer 2021 Collection is also designed by creative director Nicolas Ghesquière. The show itself had a bold theme of green. It also featured tops and dresses bathed with one-word slogans and in bold, graphic prints. Oversized bomber jackets could also be spotted, along with leather accessories and bags, sporting a bright green colour.

Green Lantern, Is That You?

Upon the dark night, the skyline featured hues of green as several landmarks surrounding the Singapore River lit up to match Louis Vuitton’s shade of green. From afar, you might think aliens have finally landed in Singapore! But, it was just landmarks like the  Marina Bay Sands, ArtScience Museum and the Louis Vuitton Island Maison joining the show. Inside the ArtScience Museum, where the event was being held, the interior basked in a similar hue.

Don’t Rain on My Parade!

Louis Vuitton

In true Singapore weather fashion, the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2021 Collection was greeted with a downpour. This was a disaster waiting to happen as rainwater quickly spilt through the Rain Oculus sky well of the ArtScience Museum. Luckily, the flood was cleaned up instantaneously, while guests were provided with umbrellas. Although, this unexpected (not really) forecast did cause a few mishaps here and there. Due to the sudden downpour and slippery runway, one model slipped during her walk. But, all is well, as the show must go on!

Local Talents

We love it when local talents are recognised and this Louis Vuitton show clearly understood the assignment. Being a Singapore show, the casting for this collection was distinctively local. Singaporean models such as Kaigin Yong and Diya Prabhakar were spotted strutting down the runway! Both of them hold impressive portfolios as they have worked with brands such as Yohji Yamamoto and Viktor & Rolf at Paris Fashion Week for the former, while the latter fronted for Prabal Gurung, and modelled for Marine Serre. On a more exciting note, Kaigin Yong had the honour to open AND close the show!

Singapore’s Style Icons

Of course, you can’t have a fashion show without inviting some of the most influential style icons in Singapore. Local celebrities such as Joanne Peh, Fandi Ahmad, Rebecca Lim, Yoyo Cao, Mae Tan and Savina Chai were part of the VIP crew seated in the front row. All of which were dressed head-to-toe in Louis Vuitton! Fits that definitely included looks from the Spring/Summer 2021 Collection.

Summer Sneak Peek

Louis Vuitton

A delightful surprise during the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2021 Collection was presented during the second half of the show. If you are that curious, the first half of the show featured Louis Vuitton’s ready-to-wear Spring/Summer 2021 Collection just like you’d expect. But when the time came to witness the second half, Louis Vuitton presented a sneak peek debut of their Summer 2021 capsule, “Summer By The Pool” looks. In conjunction with summer, the collection featured swimsuits, slides, sneakers, tote bags and breezy essentials perfect for the beach. What’s more, this collection also featured floral motifs, embroidery, with LVs signature monogram pattern in gradient sunset and oceanic hues.
