By: Cherelle Lim / February 2, 2022

Step away from the glitz and bustling of the city, and come connect with your food instead at Open Farm Community Singapore! This is a unique restaurant that allows you to connect with nature and your food before it sees you on a platter. Offering a unique experience, Open Farm Community (OFC) Singapore is the perfect place for a group visit. Both children and adults will be fascinated to learn how the food you eat grows and what it takes to grow them. Aside from giving you a lesson about your food, they offer several savoury dishes that will leave your mouth watering. After visiting this restaurant in Singapore, you’ll be able to add it to your list of the best restaurants in Singapore.

Open Farm Community Singapore

Open Farm Community has a vision to “bring to life, the impact of urban farming in Singapore”. By doing so, they hope to strengthen our respect and understanding of our food and where it comes from. Believing that the children now have been “too segregated from nature”, OFC is a response to that. As they strive to grow a relationship with food, Open Farm Community also wishes to become a platform where families can come together. Not only that, but explore the different sides of food through tours of the vegetable and fruit orchards, gardening workshops, art, talks and the most important, eating! Visiting the Open Farm Community is also a great way for families to spend quality time together.

Open Farm Community showcases both regional and local produce unlike any other. As Singapore’s pioneering restaurant concept and urban farm, it is a timely reaction to the growing disconnect between people and food. Hidden away from the big city, OFC do their absolute best to provide you with the best experience. As Singapore’s first sustainable urban farm & restaurant, they hope that you eat well and live well. Open Farm Community offers delivery for the whole island as well with a minimum spend of $30. If you just can’t wait, you can always order for self pick-up too!

Open Farm Community Review

Open Farm Community

Dining at Open Farm Community is truly an experience. Get a taste of what husband and wife duo head chef Oliver Truesdale Jutras and Sous chef Phoebe Oviedo have to offer. OFC is a joint collaboration between celebrity chef Ryan Clift and The Spa Esprit Group. Within the premise of the restaurant, you’ll get to visit the edible garden. It allows you to interact and learn about your food. To make a comfortable and exciting place for children, they even have a playground set up. Meanwhile,  the adults can enjoy a few cocktails and coffees in peace. As OFC encourages group activities, they also have a space for lawn bowling and table tennis. All this can be found just outside the coffee bar, near the al fresco sitting areas.

Of course, with such a gorgeous set-up and unique experience, the interior of Open Farm Community doesn’t disappoint. With floor to ceiling windows on one side, it resembles a glasshouse. Truly a stunning restaurant in Singapore, the interior lets in ample light to illuminate the whole space. What’s more, is that each table is decorated with a potted plant for a refreshing look. It also makes for great photo props.

The Food

Now, getting into the food, Open Farm Community also has an open kitchen floor plan so you can see how your food is prepared! Get a taste of the Oxheart Tomato Salad that has crowds eager for more. Tear away the layers of gold and red to reveal ingredients such as wild honey, ricotta, olive oil and basil. For a unique taste, try the Tiberias Golden Snapper Ceviche. This dish marries piquant ginger flowers with the pungent earthy notes of buah keluak. As intimidating as it sounds, the dish is still delicious!

For a delightful surprise, try the Tiberias Barramundi. Although it looks simple, the taste of it is absolutely amazing. Its white flaky flesh is coated in just the right amount of smoked mussel butter and the simple black rice seaweed on the side tops it off. For dessert, the Dragonfruit Pavlova is the icing on the cake. Tingle your taste buds with vibrant layers of lemongrass meringue, pineapple curd and a scoop of guava dragonfruit sorbet. Refreshing!
