Witches unite! One of the most-watchable Halloween movies in the world, Hocus Pocus, which hit the cinema almost 29 years ago, is finally making a comeback. The infamous Sanderson sister-witch has bid us all under their spell because their upcoming sequel movie will be dropped sooner than expected as confirmed by Disney + on June 28.
The trailer opens with two of the new modern characters igniting the Black Flame Candle, which seem to be the night before Halloween—much as Max did years before. The Sanderson sisters return to Salem with fury when the girls bring them back. “Please pack your children. Yes, Salem, we’ve returned!” Winifred declares.
According to the official description for the sequel, “It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and revived the 17th-century sisters, and they are searching for retribution […] It is now up to three high school kids to prevent the voracious witches from heaping further mayhem on Salem before All Hallow’s Eve dawn.”
Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy reprise their roles as Winifred, Mary, and Sarah, respectively. The women finally got it done after years of talking about reforming for a sequel. The fan favourite character, Billy Butcherson played by Doug Jones will also make a comeback. Sam Richardson, Hannah Waddingham, Whitney Peak, Belissa Escobedo, Lilia Buckingham, Froyan Gutierrez, and Tony Hale are among the new guest stars.
The first film was released in theatres in 1993. While it was not a box office smash at the time, the movie has grown enormously successful in the generations afterwards. Hocus Pocus is currently regarded as a Halloween masterpiece. Every year, families gather to see Hocus Pocus for witchy fun. The sequel will most likely follow suit. Starting September 30, Hocus Pocus 2 will be accessible on Disney+.
