Taking cues from its birthplace in Southern California, the new Stüssy Singapore Chapter Store at Scotts Square, mixes natural and industrial materials for a vibrant retail space. In addition to the iconic tees and caps that the brand is renowned for, the store will house a wide range of products from the classic sweats, jackets, cargo pants and more.
Defined by the combination of industrial-yet-natural decor, the new space includes live plants, light oak panelling, polished concrete and Cantino marble set off with a soothing shade of green-painted timber framework. The Singapore store is designed by Los Angeles based architecture studio, Perron-Roettinger—the firm behind other Stüssy shopping destinations in Shibuya, London, Milan and beyond.
A centrally located point-of-sale segment in anodized aluminium is flanked by display plinths in Cantino marble and a concrete finish, which also encircles the planter boxes offering a neat contrast between natural and industrial materials. According to designers Willo Perron and Brian Roettinger, the concept for the new Stüssy stores was based on creating an interior that encourages circulation and interactivity; a series of spaces are defined by the timber frames used for display, allowing customers to experience their own ‘discovery’ moments.
Alongside the inclusion of natural elements, the colours chosen by the designers are based on an industrial palette, matching the structural materials used throughout the retail space. In a nod to the warmth and softness of the California sun, the change rooms are clad in natural cork.
In celebration of the opening of the new store, Stüssy is launching an exclusive ‘Singapore Surfman’ logo tee. The Surfman graphic is an iconic piece of Stüssy’s history and pays homage to the brand’s surfing origins. The new Stüssy store is located at #01-01 Scotts Square, Singapore 228209, and has officially open in October, 2022.
