Versace has released a special video that illustrates the technological design and craftsmanship behind the House’s Trigreca sneakers.
Designed by renowned footwear designer Salehe Bembury, Trigreca sneakers were initially launched for the Versace Fall-Winter 2020 runway. Since its release, the sneakers remain an iconic item in the House’s shoe collection.
The name is derived from the three variations of the distinctive Versace Greca symbol that appears throughout the toe stripes, midsoles, and outsoles.
Apart from Versace’s iconic symbols of the Medusa head embedded in the soles, the Trigreca sneakers feature the coordinates of Via Gesù, 12 printed across the upper part which pay homage to its home in the city of Milan, Italy. For additional comfort, the footbed has a distinctive cork-based ‘Greca Cushioning System’ structure.
The Greca pattern which has long been associated with Versace is an emblem of infinity and unity prevalent throughout the classical architecture. This motif embodies a continuous message, integrating Versace’s cultural, geographical, and design origins. While perpetually moving forward, it presents as a border around the Medusa head signifier.
