YG Entertainment Signs Han Yoo Ah, Its First-Ever Virtual AI Star

Meet BLACKPINK’s newest labelmate

YG KPlus, a subsidiary of YG Entertainment has signed Han Yoo Ah, its first-ever virtual artist. The unexpected news was announced by Smilegate on February 14, a South Korean video game company that developed the virtual influencer. 

It was allegedly reported that Han Yoo Ah will appear in different fields of entertainment including advertisement, broadcasting and music. What’s more, it is claimed that YG KPlus wanted its newest artist to represent the metaverse industry that has been widely adopted by the K-Pop music scene. It is believed that Han Yoo Ah might work in the K-Pop industry and collaborate with its label mates including BLACKPINK and ATO6, a model-based group that is signed under YG KPlus.

Han Yoo Ah, which was created based on a female protagonist of the ‘Focus On You’ game, was revealed to the public in 2021 by Smilegate. The collaboration with Giantstep has helped transform the character into a digital human. Giantstep, is a renowned creative technology company that created and designed the avatars for aespa, SM Entertainment‘s girl group.

When the news broke out, it received a mixture of responses from the K-netizens and many of them shared their views on online community platforms. YG KPlus is a management agency for models and actors, in which their artists include Bae Yoon Young, Hye Park and ATO6.
