Hungry For Something Homegrown? Here Are The Best Local Snack Brands In Singapore

We're feeling snacky.
By: Aina Shamshuri / March 25, 2024

We don’t know about you, but we definitely believe in living to eat rather than eating to live. We also believe that there are only two kinds of people in this world; people who love to snack, and people who just haven’t found the right thing to snack on. We’re here to help both categories of people with our list of the best local snack brands in Singapore!

When the munchies hit, these are what we reach out to. And we love that they’re also homegrown, meaning that we’re supporting local when we support our appetites! As a proudly foodie country, our local snack brands are chock-full of flavour that’s way beyond your regular cheese or BBQ flavours. Not only are these snacks innovative, they’re downright addictive! We’re getting hungry just talking about it, so let’s get started with our list of the best local snack brands in Singapore.

Best Local Snacks In Singapore

1. IRVINS

If you haven’t tried IRVINS, then you’re seriously missing out; they’re not kidding when they say their stuff is dangerously addictive. IRVINS had their start as a restaurant that was famous for their salted egg crab dish, and they began producing salted egg potato chips and salted egg fish skin on a small scale. They just flew off the shelves, and they quickly opened their first retail store in VivoCity. Now, they have a whole range of snacks and they’ve expanded their flavour range too. Apart from their classic salted egg potato chips and fish skin, must-try snacks include their Hot Boom Salted Egg Fish Skin, the Nissin X IRVINS Spicy Salted Egg Instant Noodle Bowl, and the Jalapeno Cheese Salmon Skin.

Why we love it:

  • Available both online and in physical stores
  • Available as potato chips and fish skin
  • Available as instant noodles

Price: Starts from $4.20

Where to buy: IRVINS

2. Fossa Chocolate

Got a sweet tooth? Try Fossa Chocolate – they’re homegrown, unbelievably delicious, and they’ll make you happy – what’s not to love? Fossa Chocolate’s confectionaries are handcrafted from scratch at their workshop in Singapore, and winnow cacao are carefully roasted, cracked, refined into small batched of chocolate, which are moulded into bars and individually packaged by hand. The process is laborious but filled with love, and it totally shows. We love the fact that you can get a chocolate subscription, so you can get a care package full of chocolate every month (IYKYK), and we also love their out-of-this-world flavours, like Bluberry Lavender and Oat, Tomato and Maqaw Pepper, and something called Duck Shit Dancong. You can customise your chocolate for events, too!

Why we love it:

  • Huge variety of flavours
  • Handcrafted in small batches
  • Available in subscription packages

Price: Starts from $8.72

Where to buy: Fossa Chocolate

3. Plucked.

Healthy and tasty? We’re so into it. Plucked. is truly one of our favourite local snack brands because they do freeze-dried fruits! And if you’re on that side of Tik Tok, then you know why we’re so hyped about it. They freeze-dry all kinds of things, including local fruits like durian and bananas, but we also love their freeze-dried strawberries, pineapples, cranberries, and apples. If you haven’t had freeze-dried fruits before, they’re basically dried out (but not chewy!) versions of the fruit, and they’re super crunchy. They’re also super healthy because all the nutrients are locked in during the freeze-drying process.

Why we love it:

  • Healthy
  • Affordable
  • Vegan

Price: Starts from $4

Where to buy: Plucked.

4. Mala Mala

We are suckers for anything spicy, and everything by Mala Mala really satisfies our craving. As the name suggests, they specialise in all things hot and spicy (like you 😉 ), and they’ve got a secret concoction of spices that coat every single potato chip and mushroom in ridiculous flavour and heat. But don’t worry, they’ve got three levels of spiciness, so we’d recommend trying out the “Mild” flavours first to figure out your spice tolerance. P.S., be sure to try the Hand-Cut Mushroom Chips, they’re divine.

Why we love it:

  • Available in three spice levels
  • Made from traditional mala ingredients (Szechuan chilies, peppercorn, and star anise)
  • Singapore’s first homegrown mala brand

Price: Starts from $5

Where to buy: Mala Mala

5. The Kettle Gourmet

Caramel popcorn? Boring. Nasi Lemak Popcorn? Strangely delicious. You can get that and more, including Fish Head Curry Popcorn, Kaya Butter Toast Popcorn, and Chicken Floss Popcorn from The Kettle Gourmet, one of Singapore’s forefront local snack brands that happens to specialise in weird and wonderful snacks. Apart from yummy popcorn, The Kettle Gourmet also offers corn snacks and brownie crisps, and we definitely recommend giving everything a go!

Why we love it:

  • Has unique flavours
  • Hand-baked
  • Freshly baked daily

Price: Starts from $5

Where to buy: The Kettle Gourmet

6. Fupi

It seriously doesn’t get any more Singaporean than this. Beancurd skin is every Singaporean’s favourite part of any dish that has it, and Fupi has come out with a genius way to enjoy it! They offer crispy Beancurd Skin Sticks and Beancurd Skin Sticks, and both variations are absolutely incredible. So far, they only have four flavours, but we love everything. Flavours include Seaweed Wasabi, Green Curry, Sichuan Mala, but our favourite has to be Hot Pot Tomato.

Why we love it:

  • Available both online and in physical stores
  • Traditional yet modern
  • Nostalgic

Price: Starts from $5.20

Where to buy: Fupi

7. Renew

Can’t decide on whether you want something sweet or savoury? Just get something from Renew! They think of themselves as an “experimental snack garage”, and with tons of local and healthy artisan nuts and spreads to choose from, they totally redefine snacking. Vegan and completely plant-based, they offer snacks such as artisan nuts that are beyond your regular flavours, like sweet sambal and and Hainanese chicken rice, and they’ve also got gourmet nut butters, like their Lavender Pistachio, Dark Chocolate Seasalt Cashew, and Orange Walnut nut butters that are oh-so-perfect on toast.

Why we love it:

  • Vegan
  • Healthy
  • Great for events or corporate gifts

Price: Starts from $7.90

Where to buy: Renew

8. Dan’s Bites

Sometimes, all you need is something really crispy to hit the spot, and bonus points if it’s sweet. Dan’s Bites offers exactly that! In pursuit to find a recipe for the perfect brownies, the brand now specialises in Brownie Crisps, an accidental yet unique crunchy Brownie-Cookie fusion that has a crunch like no other. Their Brownie Crisps are classically rich in flavour like regular brownies, but they’re so crispy and crunchy and the texture is amazing. They also come in unique flavours, like Milk Tea, Red Velvet, and White Chocolate!

Why we love it:

  • Handcrafted
  • Suitable for bulk orders
  • Halal and vegetarian-friendly

Price: Starts from $10.50

Where to buy: Dan’s Bites
