Dahlia Dreams Lights Up With Grand Lantern Set This Lunar New Year

One of the most anticipated attractions opens at Flower Dome today. Gardens by the Bay rings into the Chinese New Year in full bloom with their annual floral display, Dahlia Dreams (大丽花之梦). For the first time, a grand River Hongbao lantern set, Spring Fragrances (花香满溢) takes the centre stage amongst the 2,000 dahlias and vibrant flowers such as azaleas, chrysanthemums, and cymbidiums.

Gardens by the Bay’s The Eight Floral Displays 2022

The lantern set displays three Chinese moon gates, a pair of rabbits and impressive narcissus, peony and lily blooms.

Visitors will also enjoy seeing adorable tiger cubs displayed all around to celebrate the Year of the Tiger.

In addition, as you walk, keep a lookout for auspicious decorations such as giant coin pouches (福袋) and couplets (春联) that bring in good fortune and prosperity.

Moreover, a wide range of paintings that depict the Four Gentlemen (四君子) of Chinese culture is exhibited. They show the plum blossom, the orchid, the bamboo, and the chrysanthemum which symbolizes the changing seasons. It also equates to virtues such as resilience, modesty, endurance, flexibility, perseverance, and fortitude. It reminds us that these traits will help us through this pandemic.

Surrounded by lights, Dahlia Dreams is also a sight to see at night. Feast your eyes in the illuminating displays as you stroll, and you can find the perfect IG-worthy spot to take a photo at, too.

Dahlia Dreams will run until February 20 and is the first of this year’s displays by Gardens by the Bay.
