By: Farah Khan / September 8, 2023

Food enthusiasts, brace yourselves for a culinary adventure!  If you are a fan of York Hotel’s highly-popular Penang Hawkers’ Fare, good news, the lunch and dinner promotion returns to White Rose Café from now to September 17, 2023. Forget about airport queues and jet lags, let the hawkers from Penang whisked you to the bustling hawker scene in Penang in the comfort of their restaurant, where an irresistible array of hawker delights are set to leave your senses dancing with delight!

Often touted as a “top culinary destination for delicious hawker fare at reasonable prices.”  Penang is a big attraction for locals, tourists, especially Singaporeans seeking comforting street food such as Penang Laksa, Roti Canai, and Char Kway Teow.

Penang Hawkers’ Fare

At York Hotel’s Penang Hawkers’ Fare, a tantalising spread of Penang hawker dishes are created from recipes perfected by years of experience. From the legendary Penang Laksa that will invigorate even the most dormant taste buds, to the expertly wok-tossed Char Kway Teow, the gastronomic offerings presented a harmonious composition of flavours.

One of the new highlights to this edition is the addition of Pasembur, a Malaysian salad that will leave you wanting more with each bite. Shredded cucumbers, turnip, bean sprouts, potatoes, boiled egg, and deep-fried fritters are essentially a food rainbow that’s topped with a sauce so good it’s classified as both “mild spicy” and “sweet” – a dual-threat of taste. Enjoy it anytime of the day, it’ll taste just as good!

The buffet journey continues with another star dish – Ban Chang Kueh, a thin, crispy, and slightly sweet pancake cooked on a hot griddle, resulting in crispy edges with generous sugar and crushed roasted peanuts.

Other new highlights for the September edition include Jiu Hu Char ( Stir-Fried Cuttlefish), a staple dish served at Nyonya households and during major celebrations and events. That satiating appetiser is best enjoyed when wrapped the fillings with a crispy lettuce, and sambal belacan, this bite-size parcel of comfort will keep you coming back for more.

Be sure to conclude the meal on a sweet note such as the iconic Ice Kachang and Chendol, and See Guo Tng. The ‘See Guo Tng’ is commonly known as ‘Four Fruits Soup’. A colourful bowl filled with a sweet symphony of ginkgo nut, longan, sweet potato, red bean, and sago. A great relief from the sweltering hot weather!

In addition to the limited time promotion, prepare to swig down an unlimited flow of coffee, tea, Teh Tarik, calamansi, and Bandung.
