For the best lo hei
By: Astrid Zulhaime / February 5, 2024

Don’t be surprised if you keep seeing the shape of a certain fire-breathing serpent everywhere you look, because it’s officially the year of the dragon! Be on the lookout for dragon-inspired everything this Chinese New Year, from decorations to costumes and even yu sheng. This year, practically every restaurant is arranging the symbolic dish into the shape of a dragon in the spirit of the holiday and we’re not complaining — an edible dragon is a wondrous sight to behold. Here are our favourite places to get the best yu sheng in Singapore.

The Best Yu Sheng in Singapore

1. Man Fu Yuan

InterContinental Singapore’s Michelin-recommended restaurant, Man Fu Yuan, is offering two types of yu sheng for takeaway, available until the end of February. Our pick would be the Prosperity Yu Sheng, which is made with crispy shredded Hokkaido scallop, salmon sashimi, rock lobster, ikura, crispy fish skin, honey miso golden peach dressing, and shallot oil. The price starts at $128.

If you’re more interested in dining at Man Fu Yuan, go for their “Dragon’s Wealth” yu sheng, an expansive 60-inch platter shaped into an impressive gold dragon head centrepiece with a matching tail. With a price starting at $88, the dish contains rock lobster, sea urchin, salmon roe, shredded dried Hokkaido scallops, salmon sashimi, and crispy fish skin. Talk about celebrating the year of the dragon in style.
