If collecting chart-topping hits was part of the Olympics, Ed Sheeran would undoubtedly set records in the sport. With unforgettable songs like Perfect, Thinking Out Loud, and Shape of You, the ginger pop star hailing from England is arguably one of the biggest names in the music industry today.
In support of Sheeran’s fifth and sixth studio albums entitled = (Equals) and – (Subtract), he has embarked on the international “+ – = ÷ x (Mathematics) Tour” since early 2022. One of the highest-grossing tours of all time, the “+ – = ÷ x Tour” is expected to conclude in late 2024 in Larnaca, Cyprus.
The tour date we’re most excited about? Last year, Sheeran announced on Instagram that he would be performing here in Singapore at the National Stadium on the 16th of February. Squee!
Naturally, tickets to the show sold out quicker than we can say Lego House. The unlucky Ed Sheeran fans all over Singapore who weren’t quick enough to grab tickets despaired over not getting to watch him perform in their hometown. At least not until the singer announces another tour in a few years. Who could even wait that long?
Apparently, we won’t have to.
One Night Only
In a move that shocked the whole nation, it was announced that Sheeran will perform a special intimate show called “An Evening with Ed Sheeran” the day after his performance at National Stadium Singapore. The one-night-only event will be held at Capitol Theatre on the 17th of February this year, which also happens to be the date of Sheeran’s 33rd birthday. It can’t get more special than that.
The surprise show is organised by AEG Presents Asia, in partnership with KrisFlyer. Apart from his greatest hits, Sheeran is also expected to perform tracks from his seventh studio album, Autumn Variations, newly released last year. In between serenading the crowd with his Grammy-winning music, the father of two will also be sharing stories and interacting with concertgoers.
Tickets for “An Evening with Ed Sheeran” at Capitol Theatre, Singapore, will go on sale starting the 12th of January at 3pm SGT through Ticketmaster. Ticket prices will start at $298.
