Kenzo Introduces ‘Nautical’ Spirit For Its SS23 Campaign

Set yourself up for a nautical-era aesthetic!

This Spring-Summer 2023 Campaign, Kenzo presents the graphic character of the fashion era with nautical influences led by Artistic Director Nigo to sum up Maison’s evergreen aesthetic.

The campaign personifies Nigo’s work in a character-centric production team, as depicted in on-location creative mind by Jalan and Jibril Durimel, studio visuals by Paulo Sutch, and moving imagery by Franck Lebon, seizing the qualities manifested by his discipline at Kenzo –Worldliness, Inclusivity, and Individuality.

Nigo designs a continuous trilogy for the campaign by bringing the images to life while adhering to the three pillars that define his artistic vision: code, characters, and location. 


The nautical spirit of the Kenzo Spring-Summer 2023 Collection comes into focus in iconic designs such as the sailor jacket, the marin-collared varsity jacket, and the dixie cup It also features workwear and tailoring in Wavy Check, Micro Pixel, and water-inspired ‘dripping’ jacquard.

They are three photographic formats that merge into one and centre on a multinational all-star ensemble. The prominent figures include skateboarder and musician Lil Dre, vocalist Nina Utashiro, and models Moses Battiest, Ama Elsesser, Sunmoon Jung, Lily McMenamy, Omar Sesay, Lulu Tenney, and Bomi Youn.

Get a full grasp of the campaign’s essence in the short films below. It was shot on the beach of L.A. by Franck Lebon, the Kenzo characters express themselves and interpret the initials of Maison’s name in creative abbreviations specific to their own ambitions and ideas.
