Jazz’in @ Capitol Singapore

18th to 19th and 25th to 26th August, Capitol Singapore, Outdoor Plaza, 7.30pm & 8.30pm

If you’ve ever wondered what happens when jazz and Asian melodies have a sultry rendezvous, Capitol Singapore has got the answer. A symphony of mellow jazz tunes with an Asian twist, reverberating through the air, as live bands serenade you under the open skies. It’s like a musical Silk Road, and you’re the adventurous trader, basking in the eclectic sounds of Old Shanghai and beyond.

The stage is set for a musical rendezvous. Bands like The Shanghai Jazz Club, who are all about bringing back that vintage nostalgia, Ragha Jazz, Singapore’s own Indian classical and jazz quintet, and The Jazz Djogets, a septet that’s practically a musical constellation. All of this auditory delight served alongside Japanese and German delicacies that are as sophisticated as they are delicious. Cheers to Ka-E-N Grill & Sushi Bar and Frieda Beer Garden & German Restaurant for keeping the spirits high and the stomachs content.

Projection Mapping @ CHIJMES

18th to 26th August, CHIJMES, The Lawn, 7.30pm-12am

But what’s a night without some visual flair? CHIJMES steps in with its projection mapping installation that’s like the city’s most imaginative graffiti. The facade of CHIJMES Hall becomes a canvas for the works of artists Chris Chai (Cosmicchai), Sadiq Mansor (249.png), and Ashley YK Yeo. It’s a rebellious symphony of light and creativity that’ll make your Instagram followers double-tap with envy.

Each piece is a masterpiece in its own right: Chris Chai’s “Port(al) City” takes you on a water-inspired journey, Sadiq Mansor’s “Evolution of Bras Basah Entertainment Scene” celebrates diversity through traditional performances, and Ashley YK Yeo’s “Birth in Bloom” transforms flora and fauna into an ode to Singapore’s transformation.

Festival Village @ CHIJMES

18th to 26th August, CHIJMES

But hey, it’s not all about jazz and visual feasts. CHIJMES is turning into a festival village, and if you’re not careful, you might just lose yourself in its enchanting allure. Ethereal dandelion installations pave your path as you wander through a realm of specialty food and beverages. Live entertainment, DJs, and games are your compasses, guiding you through the festival. And if you’re in the mood for some elevated inebriation, Harry’s Lounge At The Lawn is waiting with Tiger Soju Infused Lager and Malfy Gin.
