Grace Ng, founder of Lenicc Eyewear decided to take matters into her own hands when a pair of sunglasses brought on her holiday to Rome in 2018 was not serving her well. Not only was it leaving her eyes teary, but it also left her experiencing constant headaches throughout her trip.
Grace also realised that designer or not, most sunglasses do not cater to the Asian nose bridge. As most sunglasses are designed with Caucasians in mind, Grace went on a journey to find the right pair of sunglasses. Furthermore, studies show that most sunglasses wearers are more concerned about how good it looks above all else. Hence, many will opt for cheaper sunglasses, which may offer less UV protection and lack the option of having prescription lenses. Exposure to UV rays can actually lead to corneal damage, cataracts and macular degeneration.
After a year of research and consulting with eye doctors and experts, Grace embarked on a 6-month manufacturing process to ensure the sunglasses were produced to her exact liking. After a year and a half, Lenicc Eyewear made its debut with a collection of stylish yet customisable sunglasses. Thus, they protect your eyes and leave you looking fabulous nonetheless! Lenicc Eyewear’s core design philosophy is utilising specially selected and sourced environmentally friendly, biodegradable materials to ensure the sunglasses stay light and prevent any aching at the temples after long hours of use.
