Running is the easiest and straightforward way of getting exercise in your daily life. This form of exercise is especially popular with people who have busy schedules. This is because running can be done outdoors and typically does not require any form of money. Unlike the gym, you can run anywhere from your housing area to the nearby park. But not all places accommodate runners and not all of them are safe for those who enjoy running at night. But fret not, Glitz went on the hunt for the best free places for a night run in Singapore, and here’s what we’ve got!

1. Gardens By The Bay

Anyone visiting Singapore will most definitely make a stop at Gardens By The Bay to watch the beautiful light shows at night. But for us Singaporeans, it is a great spot for a night run in Singapore. The outside area is open 24-hours, which means you can run as late as you want to. Plus, the path is smooth which makes it convenient for running. The only downside is that the route may not be long enough for you. But don’t worry, as you can choose to run to the Marina Barrage area. You can also choose to go back and forth at Gardens By The Bay, but we’ll leave the run customisation up to you!

2. Southern Ridges

A great thing about running is the amazing scenic views you get to see. One of the best free places to get these stunning views during your night run in Singapore is Southern Ridges. Southern Ridges consist of a few parks and a whopping 10 kilometres of trails. You can get to appreciate the night view of trees and yachts too. Plus, running in trails like these also allow you to enjoy the cooling air, as trees surround you.

3. Singapore Botanic Gardens

If you’re looking for safe spots for your night run in Singapore, then look to Singapore Botanic Gardens. It operates from 5am to 12am, which allows visitors to run at dawn or at night. This spot features a lot of entrances, which allows people from multiple locations to have access to this place. The place is also brimming with endless flora and fauna that shines even at night. For a memorable night run, we definitely recommend Singapore Botanic Gardens.

4. Glow In The Dark Pathway

One thing we love about Singapore is how innovative we are. Just like the glow-in-the-dark stickers we used to have as kids, we now have glow-in-the-dark pavements. However, it is only 100 metres long but it will definitely brighten up your night run in Singapore. You can find this special pathway at Rail Corridor which is near Upper Bukit Timah and Choa Chu Kang Road. Not to mention, it’s a great reason to encourage your children to run with you!

5. Jurong Lake Gardens

Truly, Singapore is blessed with beautiful lakes that help add depth to our running trails. This particular running trail at Jurong Lake Gardens is definitely worth exploring for your night run in Singapore. It is open 24-hours and features an incredible view of nature and the city. The pathway is also build specially for the park. So you don’t have to worry about uneven paths. And if you get tired? You can just rest at the seats provided for you, which is found just a few metres away from each other.

6. Marina Barrage

If you’re someone who runs right after work for about an hour or so, Marina Barrage is perfect for your night run in Singapore. It is actually a dam and the first one in the city, in fact. But unfortunately, it is not open 24-hours. Instead it opens from 8am-9pm on weekdays and 8am-10pm on weekends. So you can still go there for runs during the early hours of the night. The beautiful green spot on the top of the dam is where you’ll be running. And although it may look small from the picture, we assure you that it will be a satisfying run.

7. MacRitchie Reservoir

Want a night run in Singapore that has some history? How about going to the MacRitchie Reservoir? This reservoir is actually Singapore’s oldest reservoir but is very well maintained until today. Those who enjoy super long runs (approximately 3-4 hours long) will find joy in the 11-kilometre trail. Another great thing about the trail is that it surrounds the reservoir. So you are basically walking around the reservoir.

Located along Sentul Crescent, Punggol Waterway Park is a great place for your night run in Singapore. This is because it is open 24-hours and features four different thematic areas. The tracks are kept clean and makes a great spot for jogging, running, and even cycling. At night, the park lits up with bright lights, paving the way for a smooth night run. You can also stop to enjoy the river, where a little fountain can be found.

If you like simple trails, then Mount Pleasant Road is the perfect place for your night run in Singapore. It’s a simple road with shady trees which will surely keep you cool as you run. But another great thing about this trail is the abundant pre-war buildings you would find. We recommend bringing a friend or two with you if this freaks you out at night. But we can assure you that it would be a trail worth exploring.

Keep your options open by going for your night run in Singapore at this Bedok Reservoir Park. This park is the ultimate go-to spot for joggers and water sports enthusiasts. If you have a change of mind and decide to do water sports, you can either kayak or wakeboard in the vicinity. However, if you decide to run, enjoy the sound of the calm waters before taking a little rest on the benches. The view is also great, may we add!

The Henderson Waves Bridge is a super cool spot for your night run in Singapore. This 24-hour free entry place is perfect if you enjoy a great view while on your run. This particular spot can get pretty hot during the day, which is why it makes the ideal running trail at night. But if you are worried about darkness, fret not as the place is brightly lit with lights. There are lights placed at every tree and resting zone so you will not need to worry.

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life and transform yourself into the surrounds of Fort Canning Park. This park is open 24-hours and features nostalgic historical gardens. As you go through your night run in this Singapore park, be ready to have your surroundings change into pre-historical times. If you plan to go here during the day though, we are sure it will make a great addition to your Instagram feed.

If you were planning to go on a night run in Singapore with your family, then Pasir Ris Park is the place to go to. The park features multiple trails as well as a Mangrove Boardwalk. You can also find a three-story bird watch tower if you would like to look at these stunning creatures during the day. But for a night run, we recommend enjoying the cool breeze you would get from nature that’s surrounding all of you.

Home to a wide array of flora and fauna, Kranji Marshes is a great spot for evening runs in Singapore. The park opens from 7am-7pm, which gives you enough time for a good running session. Because of the abundant insects that exist in this particular park, your run may just be accompanied by beautiful butterflies and dragonflies. You may also come across different species of birds and even reptiles. So it’s best to be careful about the latter.
